I read that the OP is wondering whether MS Word will provide at least
some content+delivery functions in the near future so that smaller TW
shops with limited budgets can have a low cost option for single
sourcing. 

I doubt that the OP has any interest in MS's becoming any more of the
ubiquitous big brother than it already is, otherwise his post might have
been titled "Word in 1984" :-)
