Dogs. Definitely dogs (4 of them). When I work at home they lie at my feet and sometimes look at me sympathetically. One is a certified therapy dog. He sits patiently, telling me with his sighs that I need to pet him. It works. My co-workers always want to know when he'll be back in the office.

Regarding the co-worker, my mother had what she called the "broken record" technique. In this case it might be, "None of us ever touches your files." No matter what the lady says you all just e-mail her the same, simple answer. When she complains about why you always say the same thing, you answer, "Because none of us ever touches your files." You can change the inflection to match the particular question. "NONE of us ever..." "None of US ever..." "None of us EVER..." and so on. That, combined with leaving toys, may divert her. Playing with toys is fun, and whining at co-workers is not fun. It is a variation on clicker training for dogs or whistle training for dolphins.

Good luck!

In my case, 11 cats, one dog, several African cichlids, and one gerbil.
Only the cats insist on trying to "help" me on the computer, sometimes.
And even then, it's only about four or so.
