For a fairly simple, practical rule of thumb, focus on writing the bulk
of your sentences in the classic subject-verb-object structure that is a
bedrock of English composition. Begin your sentence with a subject. Then
take that subject and immediately supply it with a verb that makes it
**do** something. You cannot apply this slavishly to every situation,
but you'll find it helps a lot.

Anyone have any tips to prevent from writing in the passive voice?
