It ended up being a problem with how I was inserting the images. I was
doing a copy-paste from SnagIt directly into the AuthorIT editor, and
then after saving, the image quality became worse, no matter what format
I set for images in AIT. I finally found an Insert Picture button that
lets me browse for am image file to add. Using that method, the image
remains good. It takes longer than a copy-paste, but the result is MUCH
more acceptable.
So it was simply a problem with the interface between the chair and
keyboard. :)
For the record, very small images (like buttons) come out fine through
the copy-paste method.
