You ever see the program "Mythbusters"? They tried the sugar route.
They put POUNDS of sugar in a gas tank and ran it for hours...no
effect. Even let it stay overnight. Busted. same with drain claner.

OTOH, bleach worked eventualy.

Oh, BTW...fruit or veggies in the tailpipe doesn't work either...gets
popped out first.
