Hi:

I have been in bonus-eligible positions. If I determine I can live with the
salary (measured against STC salary survey info for my level of experience
in this region), then I would do it. The bonus is gravy :-)

However, I don't ever accept a bonus * in lieu * of salary.

bonus.

This makes the 10% discretionary, of course. It also enables a company
to compensate weak and strong performers differently (which is currently
an extremely popular way to compensate employees.)
