RE: MS Word - changing old docs to new styles

Much of this can be automated if you have a little bit of proficiency in
VBA.

Quite possibly, about 90% of the reformatting can be automated by a series
of steps something like this

1. Open the document
2. Attach the new template
3. Force an update of the styles
4. Adjust the margins
5. Some global find-and-replace operations to apply new styles to text
6. Save and close the document

Code these up in VBA (much of this can be done by *recording* a macro). Make
sure they work on a selection of documents, and then run them as a batch
process on a complete folder full of documents.

Make sure you have a backup copy of the documents in case the batch process
goes wrong. But having got the macro working, set it running, go and have
lunch, and come back with the job 90% done!
