Granted, the interviewer can learn what questions to ask, and the interviewee can learn what answers to give. I interviewed someone once who answered all my "how would you--?" questions perfectly and with polished self-assurance. Everyone who interviewed him thought he was slick. But what are you gonna do--not hire him because he answered questions TOO well?

I guess there really is something to the idea that you size up people within a few seconds of meeting them. I think I'll leave the psychological questioning to the HR rep, who conducts scores of interviews each week; I'm more confortable sticking to questions about technical writing.
