Re: Where's the beginning? (was RE: When to Spell Out Acronyms)
I've used Geoff's suggestion of using a glossary to keep the clutter from
taking over a Help page. Linking every acronym to a definition page is
acceptable for smaller sites, or sites without a lot of acronyms, but the
glossary may be the only answer for larger sites stuff with them.
Let me throw an idea out there, thought it may not be directly
supported by the HATs. What about providing alt text for acronyms
(using the TITLE attribute in a null link)? The user can float over
the acronym to have the spelled out version displayed in fly-over
text.
I've created a proof of concept to illustrate my idea, which you can

What do y'all think of that idea? Feasible? Not obvious enough?
