There's no law against thinking or preferences, only the act of
performing it.
Actually, there is no law against discriminating in general. Discrimination is a good thing. You can discriminate between good and bad writing (well, some of us can), between good and bad mushrooms or sushi (usually), between good and bad spinach (after the fact), between customers and non-customers, between truth and fiction, between paper and plastic, and between all sorts of other contrasting pairs. What you cannot do is discriminate _on the basis of certain specified criteria_ in hiring or in providing public accommodation. The categories are specific and are limited in applicability. You can like the law or dislike the law, but you flout it at your peril.
