Kudos are in order. The anonymous Microsoft Help MVP quoted below is in
fact Dana Worley, who contributed yesterday to this thread. In the same
blog, she wrote:

"While I am a huge WinHelp proponent and will beg and plead (have begged
and pleaded!) that it remain in the LH release, in all fairness I must
point out that the reason WinHelp has not been 'broken' is because
updates to the WinHelp engine ceased years ago."

Whether or not WinHelp remains in the Vista release, the point is that
Dana begged and pleaded _on our behalf_. MS MVPs aren't just experts,
they're also advocates. In this regard, MS Word MVP Steve Hudson has
been working with MS on solutions to the infamous Word autonumbering
disaster. As Steve reported back in March:

"Because of our pressure they have thrown out all the old code and have
started again from scratch -- AT LAST. Whether they take on all our
suggestions is another story. We are praying the gallery gets worked
over, and they have copies of my code for cross-translating the
different numbering systems."

We don't thank our MVPs often enough.
