Look into Delicious Library for the Mac or MediaMan for Windows, both of which use a generic
webcam as the barcode reader and then get all the catalog data from Amazon including a photo of the
cover and the current value of the book on the used market. I have friends who use
delicious library and have gone obsessively nuts over it.

why not use a barcode reader (or wand) to enter into a spreadsheet all the CDs you own now, then use the spreadsheet to do the alphabetical order thing.
