I absorb the info into my brain. When I'm done, I go back to my office
and either write what I need to or start playing with the feature(s)
in question, testing my new knowledge. I hardly ever take notes,
unless there is something very specific I need to keep in mind, at
which point I jot a quick note down onto whatever paper I have with
me.

My ideal is to have wifi throughout our building, and arm all writers
with laptops. This way, no matter what your note-taking style, you can
still have your computer there to either verify the SME's info
against a current build of the product or write it up in the doc and
immediately have the SME look at it to verify the content (quicker
technical review turnaround).

Maybe a silly question, but I was wondering
When you interview programers (or any other SMEs) about features you
have to document, do you make notes in a notebook and write them up,
or do you write directly into your computer.
Up till now I have been scribbling on bits of paper (or decorating
print outs of screen shots), but I am considering going to meetings
with my laptop.
Do you think that would be a better idea?
