Hi Jan,

I use HelpStudio to write my helpfiles at the place that I work and I am
quite impressed by it. I'm used to Robohelp and had to learn HelpStudio
when I started working at my new company, as they prefer HelpStudio. If
you are fluent in HTML and css you'll love this tool. In my opinion it
works better than Robohelp, in that it has a very logical layout and
allows you to customize the look and feel of your helpfile. It is not
completely stable, but then again, I have to say that that is the
opinion of the other writers on my team, I have not had any problems
with HelpStudio whatsoever.

The WYSIWYG editor is not as user friendly as Robohelp, but it is
extremely easy to just open the HTML page and do your customizing in the
html.

After working with HelpStudio for 6 months I have to admit that I would
rather work on HelpStudio than on Robohelp.

I do find, however that the resources of other people using it and
forums discussing possible solutions and such is not as resourceful as
those covering Robohelp. So you mostly have to rely on your knowledge
of HTML to fix whatever problem you are experiencing.

I'm sorry I can't give you a more technical evaluation, but I've been
working for an engineering company for a few years before documenting
software, and I'm still learning all the technical jargon.

Hope this does help on some level

Esthee Erasmus

Hello everyone,

We are currently in the process of choosing a new HAT to replace
RoboHelp.
Next to the more commonly known tools as WebWorks Publisher or Author
IT,
I have found another tool that looks promising: HelpStudio2 by
Innovasys.
It
If an anybody is working with this tool, could you tell the main
advantages/disadvantages? I am particularly interested in the way it
handles templates and source control.
I already googled a bit and found a review of the tool, but of course
nothing beats the experience of someone who is actually using it!

Thanks in advance!
