The safer thing to do is simply delete the email, then go to the bank
or company's home page, i.e., www.paypal.com, and then log into
your account manually. If there's really anything wrong with your
account, you'll get some kind of dialog or message when you log
in.

The moral: If you ever get this kind of notification, be it from Paypal or your bank or your credit card company or whatever, go to that location yourself: manually type the URL in your browser.
