> Is there any sort of standard for numbering versions of the docs, if the
product is not changing?
No.
I just now got out of a meeting where we discussed this very issue. In
generally, our document numbering is separate from our product versions. If
I had to write a new document for a product that was already released, I
would call it "Version B." Other choices are "Version 1.1" or "Version
1.0.1."
This is something that you need to hash out with the people who are driving
this change. Propose a standard, put it in writing, then get agreement from
the management.
