First, check your default printer settings through the print dialogue in
Word. Word can be VERY accomodating to printer requirements which is why
it's never a good idea to send the native file to the printer (well, one of
the reasons!). I can't see that it could be this, but Word has surprised me
before and troubles can cascade down to the page in unexpected ways.

If that looks fine, there are two things that are usually done after all
'logical' solutions fail and/or the amount of time you're spending trying to
find out 'why the %^#%$^#% program is doing what it is doing' is getting
ridiculous.

Find the Normal.dot template, back it up and then delete the original. The
next time you open Word, the program will create a new Normal.dot. If you
have any special styles in the old one, you can then copy just those styles
over from the backup file (using Organizer: Tools > Templates & Add-ons and
at the lower left of that pallet, Organizer)

If that doesn't work, try uninstalling Word, going in and removing by hand
everything that the uninstall didn't take out, esp the templates, and then
reinstalling the program.

:-))

Yet another reason why I hate working with Word (2003). We are mainly a
Frame shop here, so I'm not a Word pro. Still, this one is just plain weird.

When I open a new Word file, the page size shown is 7.25 x 9, portrait. Not
sure how it got that way. I've been to File > Page Setup >Paper, and it says
I'm using a standard 8.5 x 11 letter. Tried resetting to defaults, nothing.
I also tried other page sizes, they are all displaying incorrectly. For
example, 11 x 17 gives me a page size of 9.75 x 15.

Any ideas why this behavior is happening and what I can do to fix it? All
help is appreciated. Please cc me directly, as I'm on digest.

Linda
