Martin,

I use InDesign CS2 and I have Word 2k3. One of the limitations of Word
(that I always hated) is that always seems constrained to what your
printer margins are, whereas InDesign allows images to truly bleed off
the page as though you're sending the image to a commercial press.

I'm not exactly sure what the problem is that you're experiencing, but
if it has to do with Word wanting to "re-size" your image to fit the
limitations of the printer (borders it needs) you can try this:

Create a new section for the cover and manually re-size the paper (you'd
have to print this separately using the printer's manual feed tray).
Then you might be able to "fool" Word into believing it has a larger
printable area to avoid distorting your image.

If I'm misunderstanding the trouble you're having, accept my apologies.
