Does anyone have a very specific definition and set of examples that
differentiate GAGE and GAUGE?


AP Style Guide says:

A gage is a security or a pledge.

A gauge is a device to measure something.
A gauge is also a term used to designate the size of shotguns (the number of round lead balls with a diameter equal to the size of the barrel).

According to AWG (American Wire Gauge) standards, wire sizes are specified in gauges...28 gauge, 10 gauge, etc.
