Well no, not really.  If your not-invented-here solution is made by one
of those SW companies that is boycotting GIFs and all your existing
images are GIFs (which I think is what CB says in another post), it
definitely is an issue.  And, of course, there are also the native FM
images, which are pretty much unusable in anything but FM.

OK, that is fair enough if the XML and source GIFs are to be consumed
and displayed in a home-grown application. However, if you are
producing HTML, HTML Help, or another common online delivery format
which is compiled by/into or displayed by technology you have not
yourself invented, this is a non-issue.
