This is one of those endless debates that tends to make non-writers
think that writers are hopelessly anal-retentive and wasting time they
should be spending getting documents out on schedule on unimportant
details. My reply to anyone who asks me is, "what does it say in your
style guide?" If there's none, then follow the lead of those in charge.
You must have more important things to worry about than this, and
if you don't, then by any chance is your company looking for a tech
pubs manager...?

I'm the lone tech writer in an old school world. After working here for eight months, my use of
"one space after a period" is now under scrutiny but none other than those in charge of
documentation. I can't wait to see what's next. Like, why did I not use the carbon paper in the
copier?
