That's a honking big document, so you can expect it to take quite a while to distill. I'm not currently using a PC or Word 2003, so I can't say how long, but I wouldn't be surprised if this took more than an hour (given the color, plus you said lots of tables and graphics).
One trick worth trying: Shut down your computer. Disconnect it from the network and restart your computer. Kill any system tray processes that you don't really need right now. This includes, especially, turning off your virus protection. Don't start any other applications other than Word. Try again and see if progress is faster. It will still be slow going, though; and there will be some periods when it appears not to be doing anything at all. Be patient.

Print it in 10-, 50-, or 100-page increments (whichever works = doesn't crash) until you identify the part that is causing the problem.
The usual way to do this is to use binary logic. Divide in half. If you have a problem with one half but not the other, keep dividing in half until you find a problem page. Delete any graphics on that page. Go back to the application in which the graphics were created and resave them. Then reimport them into the doc. In extreme cases, resaving in the source app may not be enough. You may need, instead, to copy the elements of the graphic and paste them into a new, blank graphic, then save.
Sometimes there is no actual problem other than the fact that the document is too huge to process in the amount of memory you have available.
Yep. That happens. It also happens that you don't have enough contiguous free space on disk. Defrag can save your butt.
