In my experience, some places allow headphones but
frown upon them ('unprofessional,' don't you know),
some places forbid them, and in programming
environments, they're common. Hey, I don't even have a
cube - we have 30 people at 30"x48" desks in one room.


Also, we have one common land line, and most people
use cell phones and/or company-provided VOIP, so the
headphones are necessary for the VOIP.
