To keep this in a TW focus, I'm reminded of one of Bill Cosby's classic
routines based on a biblical story, which shows that glossaries have
always been essential to a good user's manual right from the beginning:

"That's fine, Lord," Cosby's 'Noah' says at one point, "but what's a
cubit?"
