No, the main reason to choose Adobe over Word for the deliverable is that PDF files always print the same, everywhere.

Cutting and pasting PDF isn't pretty -- consider a PDF conversion program. Google for the following: SolidPDF, AABBY FineReader, Gemini Solo, ScanSoft PDF Converter, TypeReader, DocSmartz, and LEADTOOLS ePrint. I use ScanSoft myself, but you might want to download several free trial versions to see which one works best for you.
