Can you use LISTNUM instead of AUTONUM? The online help of my Word 2002
says that ListNum is preferable. I do not know why that is though.
By the way, in my previous post, point 3 should have been 'Three,
hopefully others who know the program and its AUTONUM and Styles
features will chime in.'

Feebly try to help I will, but there are others out there who know much
better. First off, which version of MS Word are you using? Second, it's
probably good that you are not using the Master Documents feature.
Three, hopefully others who know the program will and its AUTONUM and
Styles features will chime in.

... I'm using Word, I've established a style called Table Caption, it
has an AUTONUM field in it, but when I try to use the Cross Reference,
it doesn't display my Tables under the Reference Type: Table. I'm not
sure what I'm doing wrong. I've saved, I've exited and come back in, but
it still isn't displaying. I'm only using Styles, no Master
documents...I've looked at the online help: Create a cross-reference and
it indicates that it should display in the Cross-Reference box ...
