Not necessarily in priority order:

1. Participate in lively discussions, like TECHWR-L

2. Join groups of other writers outside your organziation: STC, NWU, local interest groups

3. Learn new stuff. See #1 and #2 for what to learn. Start with important yet free stuff:
- XML & all associated acronyms (XSL, XSLT, ...)
- Linux in its many flavors
- find niches that fit into your skill set

4. Job hunt. Seriously. Even if you don't intend to change jobs, the hunt itself is a big wake-up, as is taking an honest assessment of your skills and portfolio.

best of luck!

I feel like I've hit a plateau as a tech writer, and it's causing a certain malaise. I'm curious about what list members to do to ensure that they're continuing to grow and get better at what they do. My current employment situation doesn't have any support mechanisms for this sort of thing.
