Reaching way back into basic communication theory about the differences
between digital and analog communication, I wonder whether podcasting
documentation is such a good idea.

The standard theory goes like this: digital communication, such as
reading, is good for delivering information that is dense, focused, and
requires concentration. Analog communication, such as radio or movies is
good for delivering overviews that cover the breadth of a topic and does
not require close attention.

If that holds true, then podcasting might be good for general
introductions or quick start guides. With more technical information or
complicated procedures, it might not work as well as text.
