I have learned in the last day that there is a problem with my Web site, www.dmargulis.com, when it is viewed using Netscape 8 when it is set to "display like Internet Explorer" mode (I don't know if this setting is also available in Firefox).

For what it's worth, I don't see anything in your code that would cause it. I can suggest two things.
* close the IMG tag (<img src="" />) and see if that makes a difference (it shouldn't)
* try getting ride of the clip attribute from the css. I've never used this one, so I don't have experience with how it works, but it might be doing something you didn't expect

Honestly, though, I'm thinking this is a bug in Netscape 8. If the graphic is appearing in IE (which it is) and disappears in an IE emulator, then the emulator is busted. :-)

I wonder if the same behavior would occur if the page was valid html...?

Hope this helps at least a little.
