Mac is an excellent option, except for FM, which you may be able to
replace.

The consideration for any hardware/software, IMHO, is a series of
trade-offs:
* What expertise is around you? Harder to use a Mac in a PC shop.
* What hardware is around you? Using a PC in a Mac-only graphics shop
requires some extra work.
* What SW do you already own?
* What SW/UI are you *familiar with*? Are you ready to climb the
learning curve?
* Are you willing to lose productivity in the short term?

Given the issue that Jonathan states, I'd also want to toss my PC out
the window. Still, I have 20 years of PC experience and maybe 6 months
total of Mac experience. I'd be angry, but then I'd bite the bullet and
take action to protect my PC. I run Norton Anti-Virus every night on
every PC I use, and I've been infected exactly zero times as far back as
I can remember.

I hate to defend Microsoft, because their security standards were pretty
sloppy. Remember, though, that they're the big target. It's not clear to
me that Mac was any more secure, but they're a much smaller target.
Someone may have to correct me on that one. UN*X, too, has lots of
security holes I'm sure.

You may think that having to run an AV program is a poor work-around for
robust security. Perhaps. I think, though, that (in a variation of
Goedel's Theorem) no sufficiently complex system can be made immune to
hacks.

Joe
