Absolutely!

One of the major things I'll be working on in the future is
diagramming and documenting how CHCS II interfaces with medical
databases, proprietary systems, and patient intake applications like
WAMHIS, the child/adolescent psychiatry remote care system.

There are tons and tons of opportunities for technical writers in the
military medical field. If you can write proposals, you're even better
off. It's all a matter of which tack you take.
