a very small software company i worked at about 5 or 6
years ago still has a website, despite the fact that
they were bought out and their company name no longer
exists. today their website looks exactly the same,
down to advertising positions, as it did the day i
left the company. Apparently the partners got their
money and got out.

Find a phone number or a land address for the company,
call to see if they're still in business. if they
are, ask about the position. or send a snail mail
resume/cover letter. i don't think that a company is
obligated to send a response to web applications.
good luck!
jan
