Well, I think I'm always AWARE of the correct usage issue, to the point
where I notice when I make a grammatically incorrect statement, but I've
found a way to resolve the conflict so I can speak naturally without
feeling guilty about it. I simply think of different modes of
communicating, with my documentation being a formal written mode and
conversation being a casual verbal mode. What's unacceptable in the
formal written mode is okay, and even preferable, for the casual verbal
mode.
Now there is one way in which my job rubs off onto my everyday life. I
find myself getting very impatient with people who don't explain things
clearly, and I always want to tell them how they could have done it
better -- which can sometimes put a strain on the relationship.
