Cost is ALWAYS the bottom line.

Anybody who says otherwise is either a hypocrite or in marketing. Not a
slam on marketing. Just the reality that most buyers enjoy deluding
themselves into thinking that companies would happily go bankrupt to give
them anything they wanted.

Some niches allow for higher budgets, but the bottom line is always
provide JUST ENOUGH product, with JUST ENOUGH quality, and JUST ENOUGH
features to gain JUST ENOUGH sales at a price that is as high as possible
(and at a minimum higher above cost than the business could have made by
simply laying-off all the employees and investing the capital in a bank
certificate).

Working to deliver perfection at all costs is a hobby. Unless you have a
mythical client who is willing to pay any cost...

Whether the cost per item is because of the same productivity with lower
labour costs, or higher salaries with higher productivity it doesn't
matter. Both phenomena have been going on inside local economies for
centuries. The only thing that irks some people these days is that the
movement overseas is more politically apparent than the simple shutting
down of one local factory over another.
