Well, I'm not sure about the companies you've worked for, but the FTE
I've had was 50/50 on the proprietary/secretive nature of their info.
The places that would not allow books/files to go with me made me sign
an agreement upon hire that I would not allow me to leave the company
with any product info, nor use it for purposes outside of company
business.
