Hello,
Thanks to everyone who responded and helped me get grounded. The situation is not really settled, but I'm not flipping out over it anymore. My manager never did manage the situation and because I'm no longer howling at the moon (and my coworkers) he thinks all is rosy. He did downgrade my performance appraisal because of my emotional displays. One of the other people involved cried when she spoke to him, I just didn't use the right emotions (she went from being a contractor to a new hire... so lesson learned? anger=demotion, crying=promotion).
I can almost laugh about the whole thing now.
I am looking for a new job. I went to a resume workshop, which was excellent, and my updated resume seems to be working well, so it was worth the $20 investment.
I have spoken with several of the other writers, after they've made oblique comments about their sympathy for my plight, but there is no sense that the situation is worth bothering about. I've begun to think of my coworkers as *lifers*, they've given up on the office entirely, but come every day to collect their pay.
I have been told, by my manager, that the people causing me so much trouble were simply trying to help. And, oddly enough, I think he's right. There is a lot wrong where I work but none of the problems are about people being anything other than freaked out.
Wanda
