If your version of Robohelp allows you to create dropdown text (dynamic
html), I would use that as your alternative. I do this frequently to
save screen real estate, and to hide images for users who don't want
them.

Hope ths helps

Subject: robohelp question: new windows

i'm using robohelp office, webhelp layout --

in one of my topics i have created a link to the phrase, "see example."
i've linked that phrase to a new window. (new window is what robohelp
calls it, though i tend to think of it as a pop-up window.)

the new window displays a page (html) with my title, bullet items, and
full-sized screen shot. unfortunately, at the top of the page robohelp
inserts the hyperlinked word "show," and clicking it brings in the left
navigation, so that now the user has 2 complete help windows when i only
wanted the new window to be viewed and then discarded, much like a
normal...er...pop-up window.

is there any way to get rid of this unwanted "show" link? my other idea
was to just make the new window an image only, but the problem with that
was that i couldn't control the size of the new window (i think because
i only have webhelp and not webhelp pro), and the new window would come
up in the browser's default size, which, if too small, resized the image
so that it was too small to be of any use. the user can resize the
window, but i don't trust my users to be that savvy, and i'd prefer not
to have to add text to the original page explaining that after they
click the link, they may still need to resize the new window.

any ideas?

(if this doesn't make any sense or if i've neglected to include
important info, let me know. i'm writing this on the fly before i head
to a meeting.

thanks,

diotima
