I've been reading this thread with great amusement. Good stuff coming
out of it too!
I just want to throw one qualifier out there... DFDs *can* get you
*quite* far in the *right* organization... If process is a problem in
your place of work, someone who can chart out the disaster as well as
the solution in a way that's understandable to all will go far. That
person could be a tech writer, programmer, salesperson, janitor, etc.
But being able to document process can get you far.
On the flip side, it could also be seen as a waste of time and effort,
in which case it could get you nowhere.
