I am a simple tech writer who wants to convert my manual into XML and I have no idea how to hand off the final output to the customer for viewing, or how they will view it, other than perhaps in XHTML. RoboHelp generates Help files to XML. However, there appears to be no way of viewing those files except via the DTD. When it's viewed, the code displays, and not the final output. We are accustomed to generating to WebHelp or HTML CHMs. Do we need to view the files as XHTML? RoboHelp will parse HTML files to XML by creating XHTML files. We can then take those XHTML files back into RoboHelp and view them there. XHTML is viewable; XML is not. I am not a programmer, and yet, that seems to be what is required to create a DTD. If anyone has any experience in this area, your comments would be welcome.
