I interviewed for a short contract last year. At the conclusion of the interview, a test. First, I was asked to identify editing marks. Then, I was taken to a workstation where I completed a tools and basic skills test.

I was offered and accepted the contract. But, that wasn't the end of the testing.

At the conclusion of the first week, I was taken into a conference room where it was revealed that the entire first week had been a test that I had passed with average performance. I was encouraged to (quickly) improve my performance and invited to finish out the balance of the contract.

This turned out to be the first of several death blows to the contract. The reveal was not a warm fuzzy moment. It was discomforting. But, had several other factors not been in play, I think I would've recovered my perspective and finished out the contract. However, I doubt that I would've accepted any extension offer.
