Eric Bolton asked:

>>Does anyone know of a standard regarding the conversion of imperial
measurement to metric and how this needs to be documented? Typically,
we list a description of a part, give a length in U.S. measurement and
then list the metric conversion in parentheses and smaller font behind
the measurement. =20 PART B, 4 3/4" (121)<<

Typically, when we have to provide documentation that contains both sets
of measurements, we give the primary set first, followed by the
secondary set in parentheses ( ) - like this:

0.05in (0,625mm)

We would do this for all measurements in the document, even if the same
measurement was repeated several times on the same page.

Note that metrics characteristically use a comma instead of a dot to
indicate the decimal point.

Here is a site that gives quite useful stuff on SI/metric styles and
usages.
