At the risk of making people upset...
Why bother? If that person is not hindering the thing the contractor is
there for, who cares who likes who? It's nicer if everyone gets along but,
when you're contractor, what does it matter? You're not there long and your
not being paid to make friends with the employees. Yes, it's more fun if
that happens but it's not what you're there for.
Again - you're there do to a thing. That's what you're paid for. If people
get along, that's nice, but you aren't getting paid to get along or chat.
You're there to get the work done.
You don't have the right to upset the employee team by asking questions of
people like: "Is there a reason why you don't chat/wave/talk/whatever with
me?"
You're not part of the team, you're a temporary solution to a problem that
you are working to get rid of.
