This recurring thread never ceases to amuse me. So what if FM dies
tomorrow? So what if Adobe abandons all support for it? Is it an
Earth-shattering tragedy?
No.
FrameMaker, the application, has been stable with minimal updates over
the past 5 (actually more like 10) years. Functionality has been
stable. Use has been unaltered to a large degree. And, unless Adobe is
leasing magic from Disney, FrameMaker will most certainly not turn
into a pumpkin upon announcement of its discontinued state. It will
work and will continue to work for as long as an operating system
supports it.
Plus, there's an easy migration path to XML from FM, meaning that by
the time Adobe decides to trash FM for good, you should be able to
port content to virtually any other tool out there.
