Much also depends upon whether the "comprehensive documentation" is
the internal documentation of the program source code, the user docs,
or both.

I have done jewel-case-insert docs, as it happens, for user
instructions on several occasions. In an ideal world, even *that*
would be more than would be required...

Reminds me of an English teacher I had back in antediluvian days. He
said the proper length for any composition should be thought of as
being similar to the proper length for a lady's skirt--long enough to
cover the subject but short enough to be interesting!

Ah, the days before the "sexism" hoo-ra!
