Why such course granularity? Software to allow the input of any desired
amount of time already exists, I'm sure. Just make sure it's within a
reasonable range, like not 5 milliseconds or 25,000 years.

Or is the problem that the time-out facility itself is badly designed
and can only accept multiples of 1800 seconds?
