Subject:structuring your contents (in robohelp) From:"diotima" <diotima -at- myway -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Tue, 21 Dec 2004 16:23:57 -0500 (EST)
all,
in robohelp, you can create a default topic. when users first open the help system, the default topic you've assigned is the first topic that they will see.
can you create a default topic for each category in your table of contents? if you are familiar with robohelp, you know that each category in your table of contents is represented by a book icon that opens when you click it to display each of the individual topics within that category.
i'm wondering if it is possible to make it so that clicking on a category not only opens that category in the usual way, but also takes you directly to one of the topics within that category (which would have the same title as the category).
essentially, i'm trying to figure out how to handle a situation where my category name and the first topic within that category have the same title, and both the category name and the topic name seem (at present) to be the best choices.
so for example, let's suppose it is something like this:
(category) entering your account information
(topic) entering your account information
(topic) updating your account information
assume that neither topic is large enough to be a category unto itself, nor would either of these topics be appropriate under any other categories.
i know that one way around this would be to rename the category more generally as "account information," but i'm hoping not to have to resort to that because i would prefer that each of my category titles be a nice gerund-y user task.
any suggestions?
