TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Sometimes I have a hard time believing what I see
here. If providing help, professional advice, and the
occasional moral support is so difficult for you,
Chuck, please quit the list instead of acting as
judge, jury, and executioner when it comes to who is
and is not good enough (in your eyes) to work in Tech
Comm.
I think TechCommDood often provides useful comments
and insight. To be honest, I was actually surprised to
see his message stating that he's a relative newcomer
to the field.

Reading over the original post, and then this one, my
impression ("fresh Tech Writer," "don't know the ins
and outs of the trade") is of someone who has zero
experience and zero training in the discipline, yet
who has attached a title, who has gotten themselves
into a situation where some minimal level of industry
competence is required, and who now expects those who
have that competence to bail them out.
The lesson here is to speak truth to power, to tell
your Project Lead the truth about your capabilities,
and that the real solution is to give the job to
someone with the appropriate training and experience.
