I'll argue that, by your definition, you don't need to be a "computer
professional" to be able to handle list subscriptions and out of
office notices. That is quite fundamental knowledge, in my opinion. If
you're smart enough to be able to use e-mail and sign yourself up for
mailing lists, you should be smart enough to manage them properly.
