I think some of those are good points, however, when one has been in the
business a long while and then at the same place of employ for awhile, I
would imagine that most tech writers *do* have the writing in order.

I believe I am not a usability expert about my car, however, my comments
about the way it works might be useful to the engineers.

But when talking about the product I not only document, but use, analyze,
design parts of, and test, my comments are coming from a tech writer--and
an expert.

Now if I could only get permission to hear those complaints from users,
I'd add the useability part!
