Data flow diagrams are a very different animal than
logical (i.e., If-Then-Goto decision branching)
flowcharts. Basically, DFDs are an analysis tool
showing flow of data, and logical flowcharts are a
design tool showing flow of control. Showing flow of
control on a DFD is a mortal sin to a DFD purist.
Only by following the flow of data can we perform a
rigorous task analysis.
